Bienvenue à l’école King George!

To our King George Families…

We are thrilled to begin a new school year here at King George.  Here are a few things we wanted to point out:

INSTRUCTIONAL HOURS:  Our day begins at 8:20 and ends at 2:50. Grade 7 and 8 students enter the school at 8:15 so that they can arrive at their first period class promptly at 8:20.  First Nutrition Break/Recess is from 10:00-10:45, and Second Nutrition Break/Recess is from 12:25-1:10.  We ask that students remain on school property at Nutrition Breaks, unless they are signed in and out by their parents.

COMMUNICATION:  Our primary method of communication is our school website.  Please visit us at   This is where you’ll find our monthly newsletters, our school calendar, and any other important messages that we need to pass along.  You can also follow us on Twitter at @kinggeorgeps to learn about the amazing things that are happening in our school!

We will also be using a new parent communication service called School Messenger App. To receive messages from our school, download the School Messenger App from either the iTunes store or Google Play Store for Android phones. This app is free and easy to install. Once installed create an account using the email or phone number on record at our school. For instructions on how to start using this new service, visit our website, We have posted instructions and links on our site to help you get started.

E-BLASTS:  If we need to get important messages out to our school community quickly, we do this through an “e-blast”.  You can join our mailing list in two ways – by clicking “subscribe here” at the bottom of our school webpage, or by visiting

LUNCH PROGRAMS:  Our School Council runs a weekly pizza program – more information will be sent home in the coming weeks.  King George students can also purchase pizza on Tuesdays and Thursdays whenever they choose by purchasing a token at First Nutrition Break ($1.75/slice) and redeeming that token at Second Nutrition Break at the servery.  Booster Juice is also available for weekly purchase through School Cash Online.

SCHOOL CASH ONLINE:  We use this payment tool for most school events, field trips and food programs.  If you haven’t signed up already, you can do so here:  If you are experiencing difficulty registering or need help to get started, please speak with Mme Carrow in the office.

SCHOOL COUNCIL:  Our first School Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 17 at 6:30 p.m in the library.   We encourage all families to get involved in the school – everyone is welcome!  Please see the reverse for a letter from School Council about all of the great volunteer opportunities that are available for our families.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have questions.  We are looking forward to a great year!
