Thursday, April 23rd – Morning Announcements

Posted April 23, 2020

Bonjour tout le monde. Aujourd’hui c’est jeudi le 23 avril, 2020. Si le monde nous attend, qu’est-ce que nous allons le montrer? If the world is waiting for us, what are we going to show it?

Today, let’s show we can try, even when we’re not sure what to do. Have you ever looked at a task and said: “I just don’t get it!”? Everyone feels like that from time to time. Here’s some advice:

Step One: Take a deep breath. It’s easier to think when we’re calm.

Step Two: Reread the instructions carefully. Are there any words you don’t know? Look them up, or give them your best guess.

Step Three: Really think about the task. Give yourself at least a minute. Use a stopwatch or timer if you have one, and don’t stop thinking about how you might tackle the task until the timer dings.

Step Four: Give it a try! It’s okay if you’re not sure. If you’re really stuck, write or draw what you think the answer might be. Get some of your thinking out of your head so you can look at it. It might give you an idea about what to try next.

A family shared this O Canada video, which they’ve been using as part of their morning routine. It’s from the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony. One of the violinists is a music teacher for some King George kids! https://youtu.be/HOezxr_h_GY

Have you been listening to O Canada at home, or have you recorded your own version? Tweet it @kinggeorgeps or send it to [email protected]

Have a great day, King George!
