Weekly Update

Autumn FruitHello, Parents of les chevaliers!

We had a good week at school.  Students in different junior and intermediate classes took the first Caribou math test and Grey, Altair, and Hope each had the top score for their age group!  Congratulations to each of them.

There was a School Council meeting on Wednesday evening.  Minutes will be posted on the website soon.

Thursday was Colour Day, which connects loosely with the Go Purple day organized by GLAAD, an organization that works through entertainment, news, and digital media to share stories from the LGBTQ community that accelerate acceptance.  It was a bright day around King George! Each class participated in activities that were appropriate for its students.  It is the first action this year in our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion work to understand differences, become aware of our biases and create a safer space for everyone.

Blythe in Mme Genova’s class won Question de la semaine by correctly explaining why leaves change colour in the fall and being randomly selected from all the participants.

We want to say a special thank you to the King George families who contributed so generously to fundraisers last year.  Some money was allocated for recess play equipment and this week M. Taylor worked hard to pump up balls and package various sets of bowling pins and beanbags and hoops and more.  Students were so excited to have some new things to play with in their zones!  Thank you to the School Council for organizing the activities and to all of you for contributing.

This coming week, we will celebrate our amazing Early Childhood Educators on Friday.  Their official appreciation day is Saturday, but we want to take the chance to let them know how grateful we are to have them at our school to welcome in our newest learners and to set them on a positive path that will serve them for the rest of their academic careers.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

With warm regards,

Jane Bibby, Principal
