Hi, King George Families.

As many of you will know by now, the Province has pushed back the in-person return to school until Monday, January 17th.  We will begin remote learning on Wednesday.  Assignments, resources, and links to Google Meets will all be posted in each child’s Google Classroom.  Please make sure your child knows how to connect before Wednesday morning at 8:20 am.

For those of you who need a Chromebook for your child(ren), they will be available tomorrow (Tuesday) between 8:30 and 3:30.  Here is a link to a form that you must fill-in prior to picking up a device.  If you are not free tomorrow, then David or I will be at school each day during the remote learning period, so you can pick-up at a later date as well.

For those of you who are interested in temporary asynchronous learning, the board is working on getting that organized.  They have to hire teachers and upload learning activities.  For now, your child should connect with their teacher and access work from their Google Classroom.  When I have information about how to register for temporary asynchronous learning, I will share it with you.

At this point, it looks like we’ll be at home (or the sitter’s) for 8 days.  The staff will work hard to make those days meaningful and supportive for students.  As I said last spring and last winter – families, do your best.  We know some days will be harder than others.  If your child is falling behind or struggling, then please do not hesitate to reach out to their teacher so extra supports can be put in place.  We’ve done this before, so it won’t be so stressful to get back in the groove, and with any luck, it will be a little blip and we’ll all be back in the building again soon.

Take good care, everyone.

With warm regards,

Jane Bibby, Principal
