Animals in the Classroom

Posted September 30, 2019

This past spring, the Animals in the Classroom policy was reviewed and revised. The revised policy defines a Visiting Animal as an animal that comes in for a short period of time or on a temporary basis. Principal approval must be obtained prior to any animal visiting the school (this includes Show and Tell events). In addition, communication must be sent home to all students prior to the animal visiting (i.e., due to allergies or for students who might be affected by the presence of the animal). While at school, the animals must be leashed or caged and under the control of a responsible adult. If the animal is not caged (i.e., leashed), the staff member in charge cannot be responsible for both the animal and the supervision of students. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask at the office. Thank you in advance for your assistance with this!
