Monday Message – Week of November 26, 2018

Posted November 26, 2018

On behalf of our school and students, we would like to extend a HUGE thank you to the organizing committee, their team of volunteers and our School Council who made Friday night’s Winter Wonderland Dance such a success for our school community. Stay tuned for pictures coming soon!

Photo retake – Photo Retake Day is on Thursday, November 29, beginning at 9:00 a.m. in our gym. It is an opportunity for students who missed their individual photos to get it redone.

Sharing our Music!! – Our Annual Christmas Concert for families and friends of Montgomery Village is on Monday December 17th at 9 am.

All are welcome!

Students in Kindergarten through Grade 3 will share songs, and the MVPS Uke Troop, Bucket Band and Montgomery Village Children’s Choir will also perform.

On Friday December 7th at 7:00 pm, the Montgomery Village Children’s Choir will be singing in a community Christmas Concert at Westminster United Church, on Broadway in Orangeville. Come hear the sounds of bells, the PMPS Band, and join in the fun. This is a “pay what you can” event.

No bus days – Occasionally, due to inclement weather conditions, buses are cancelled. This information is posted on the Wellington-Dufferin Student Transportation Services website. Montgomery Village is a Division Green school. There is a link (the little yellow school bus) to this page at the top of our website. https://www.ugdsb.ca/montgomery/

Please note that only a small percentage of our students are bussed.

On rare occasion, conditions are such that schools are closed. (Only our Director of Education can close schools). This information will also be communicated at the top of our website as well as via CASL, our email subscription service and, if possible, our Social Media feeds.

Interview questions & preparation – Teachers have worked hard to share a ‘November picture’ of your child’s progress to date. An important follow up to this Progress report is the Parent-Teacher Interview. The late afternoon and early evening of Thursday, November 29th and the daytime of Friday, November 30th are dedicated to parent-teacher interviews (Friday is a PD Day and there is no school for our students). To help accommodate access for all parents, interview times are short. It is always best to come prepared.

The CBC has a great, brief blog post that outlines steps to help support his process. It also includes a link to a support ‘Tips for Parents’ document created by People for Education entitled “Parent-Teacher Interviews”. Have a look here if you find it helpful.

The weather is getting a little testy out there today. Be safe, everyone!
