Online Learning and Technology Requests

Posted January 3, 2022

Dear parents and guardians,

As you have most likely heard through the media, schools in Ontario are closed to students until Jan. 17th due to ongoing concerns with the Omicron variant of COVID 19. As a result of this news, schools within our board will be shifting to online learning. This will begin on Wednesday, Jan. 5th.

To support online learning, there may be some families who need to borrow a school Chromebook. In order to prepare for this and to ensure all students have access to their Google Classroom, we will begin the process of getting this equipment into homes. As you can imagine, this requires some coordination.

We are asking all parents who need to borrow a school Chromebook to reach out to their child’s homeroom teacher with an email. Teachers will record who requires a device and the office will make sure they are ready to be picked up at the school. Please do not come to the school until you receive a message that the equipment is ready for pickup.

We will have a limited number of devices to go out, so please only request one if it is needed. Please note, iPads do not work well with Google Classroom.

Please email your child’s classroom teacher to make a request for a Chromebook. Use this link if you do not know your teacher’s email address: https://www.ugdsb.ca/montgomery/staff/

We appreciate your continued support and flexibility.
