About Us

Palmerston Public School is a K-8 school with 505 students located in the Town of Palmerston.  We are located within the Upper Grand District School Board.

The school is “dual-track” offering both English and French Immersion programs from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8. Students who live in town walk to school, while students who live in the country ride the bus. Students attending the French Immersion program come from Palmerston as well as surrounding areas in North Wellington. Students who graduate from Palmerston Public move on to English or French Immersion programs at Norwell District Secondary School or Wellington Heights Secondary School.

The facility was refurbished and an addition added in 1991. Bright classrooms, halls, and library provide an excellent spot for children to learn. The large yards include space for children to play ie. soccer field, creative playground, swings, climbers, basketball hoops, large tarmac with painted games, and a separate area for Kindergarten students.

Students and staff are guided by the school motto “Be the Best You Can Be – Fais de Ton Mieux”. We provide each student with the opportunity to achieve academic success and meet the expectations of the Ontario Curriculum. Our school is committed to providing literacy and mathematics programs that provide the necessary tools and skills for the future.

Parent Groups

School Council

The School Council of Palmerston Public School is a community of parents, staff, and other members of our community with one common goal:

We strive to work cooperatively through open interaction with school administration and staff to advance and improve the student experience and ensure contribution to a positive school community.

Our contributions to the school community are funded by our fundraising efforts. Palmerston School Council is committed to providing fun, meaningful, and cost-effective ways to raise the money needed for projects that are not covered by the school or school board.

We meet throughout the school year. All parents, guardians and other school community members are welcome to join. Please contact the school for more information.

Equity Advisory Committee

Our Palmerston Public School Equity Advisory Group is open to parents and guardians in our school community.

The purpose of this group is to build community within our parent community and to give parents and guardians the opportunity to provide feedback and guidance related to equity, inclusion, anti-racism and anti-oppression.

We meet once a month throughout the school year, using Google Meet. If you are interested in joining this group, please contact the school.
