Britannica School

Britannica School is a database that provides articles and educational videos, images, magazine and journal articles, learning games, and more. Content is recommended for students in grades 3-12 and articles are updated monthly. Great for topics related to language and literacy, science, technology, communities, history, geography, and more!

Britannica School recognizes UGDSB staff and students automatically, so no need to enter a username or password. To access Britannica, navigate to the student UGCloud landing page - the site should automatically sign you in.

Key features

Adjustable reading levels

Each article in Britannica School can be adjusted to different reading levels. On the article page, look for the floating functions menu and click on one of the numbers beside "Level" to change the word count, vocabulary, etc.

French translation

Each article in Britannica School can be translated in French and other languages. On the article page, look for the floating functions menu, click on the icon above "Translate", and select a language from the drop-down list.

LaunchPacks

LaunchPacks are mini collections of articles, images, and videos curated around a grade-appropriate learning area. From any site page, click on the round blue Britannica icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen and select "LaunchPacks".
