Curio
Curio provides more than 10,000 educational vidoes, documentaries, tv shows, news, podcasts, archival clips, and more. It includes resources for every grade level K-12, as well as content in both English and French. The entire platform can be viewed in French by clicking the "Français" button in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
Curio recognizes UGDSB staff and students automatically, so no need to enter a username or password. To access Curio, navigate to the student UGCloud landing page - the site should automatically sign you in.
Key features
Discover themes
One way to explore content in Curio is by reviewing their curated themes. Content is gathered and updated regularly by the staff at Curio to reflect key areas of learning. At the top of the page, click "Discover" and then select a theme from the list or click "All themes" to see more options.
Filter by grade level
To locate content in Curio by grade level audience, click "Browse" at the top of the page and then select a grade range. On the page that loads, click the "Filters" option under the page header and choose a subject area to narrow down to the content you need.
News in Review
In collaboration with the CBC News team, Curio provides a sequence of news stories released throughout the school year. Each video page includes a teacher guide for facilitating discussion. At the top of the page, click on "Discover" and select "News in Review" (under "Channels").
