NoveList
NoveList is a book database that provides access to information, recommendations, and professional reviews about all kinds of books. Search for a book to see suggested grade and reading levels, key topics and themes, and suggestions of similar titles - great for developing literature circles or supporting students with independent reading.
NoveList recognizes UGDSB staff and students automatically, so no need to enter a username or password. To access NoveList, navigate to the student UGCloud landing page and select from the "Apps" menu at the top of the page - the site should automatically sign you in.
Key features
Grade levels, reviews & more
NoveList provides information from publishers and professional sources - great for learning more about a text before beginning reading. On the details page for a book, scroll to see recommended age and grade levels, author bios, reviews, and more.
Read-Alikes
NoveList offers a couple ways to find "read-alikes" - books that are alike other based on their genre(s), themes, etc. Look under the basic info on a details page for a book to see titles that are similar, or use the interactive tags under "Search For More Like This Book" to explore a specific aspect.
Syncing with Insignia
NoveList is synced with Insignia to facilitate discovery and access. When reviewing details about a book, look for the option to "Check Catalog" - you'll be redirected to Insignia where you'll be able to see all copies of this book across the system.
