First Day of School / Premier jour d’école
The first day of school is just around the corner on Tuesday, September 5th. The Palmerston staff is very excited and have been working hard to plan a dynamic and exciting year of learning for your child and we can’t wait to see their smiling faces. We have had some impressive renovations to the school over the summer and are excited about our new Learning Commons space (formerly known as the Library) and our new Servery to support our Healthy Snack program.
If you are a new family coming to our school – welcome! Please come in as soon as possible and register your child at the school office. You will need your child’s birth certificate, immunization record, and proof of address with you. Teressa Murray-Head is our Office Co-ordinator and can help with any questions you may have about registration.

First Day Procedures
On the first day of school, teachers will be out on the tarmac before the bell. French Immersion Teachers will have blue papers with their class lists on them and English Teachers will have yellow papers with their class lists on them. They will have their grade number printed on the back of the coloured page so that you when you arrive you can check in with them to see if your child is on their class list.
If it is raining (we hope not!) then please go to the gym when you arrive (please not before 8:35) and staff will be there to help students find their teachers.
If you have any questions or concerns about the bus, please refer to the Student Transportation Services webpage at http://stwdsts.ca/home/ or call them Toll Free at (888) 292-2224.
If you would like a suggested list of school supplies you can find that list here: https://goo.gl/ZmJMmc
We have two nutrition breaks as we have had in previous years when students will have 20 minutes of eating time. We are a peanut free school. We hope you can support our Eco-School status by using reusable containers and water bottles in your child’s lunches if possible.
