Morning Announcements – Monday, June 21st, 2020
Today is Monday, June 22nd, 2020. Bonjour, aujourd’hui c’est lundi, le 22 juin, 2020. Congratulations on making it to the last week of school! This week your teachers will be posting content up to Friday. I’m guessing there will be a lot of fun activities in there for you to do this week, just like we’d be doing a mix of learning and fun if we were in school.
National Indigenous People Day
Yesterday, June 21st, was National Indigenous People Day in Canada. It is a day for us to celebrate and acknowledge the important contributions of our First Nations, Metis, and Inuit peoples in Canada. We have been privileged at Palmerston Public School to have had visits from Knowledge Keepers and artists who have shared their knowledge with us to help us all in our learning journey. You can learn more about this special day here: https://www.rcaanc-cirnac.gc.ca/eng/1100100013248/1534872397533
Thank you to all of our parents and guardians who have helped support student distance learning during our closure period. We hope the use of the borrowed Chromebook has been helpful. We have had many requests from families wondering if they can keep the Chromebook over the summer to continue to support learning and help children stay engaged in their learning. The answer is yes! Feel free to keep the Chromebook you have for return to our school in September.
For those moving to a new Upper Grand DSB school you may continue to use the same device you currently have and return it to our school in the fall. If you choose to keep the Chromebook over the summer please remember to fully shut it down regularly to ensure it access updates over the summer when it is turned back on.
For those students moving to a new school board for the fall and for families who would prefer to return their Chromebooks over the summer please drop off at our school as per the schedule below:
Tuesday, June 23rd 10:00am – 2:00pm outside the front doors
Wednesday, June 24th 10:00am – 2:00pm outside the front doors
Monday, June 29th 10:00am – 2:00pm outside the front doors
Thanks again for your continued support and best wishes for a healthy and safe summer!
