Palmerston Public School Reopening September 8th, 2020

Posted August 4, 2020

Dear Families,

I’m sure many of you have heard that Education Minister, Stephan Lecce, based on information from the Scientific community and Public Health, has decided that elementary schools will reopen full time – 5 days a week – with full classes.  Parenting through a Pandemic has been challenging and the announcement to reopen schools at full capacity will be met with a mix of emotions.

We will be required by the Ministry to make some significant changes to how our school runs in order to prioritize the safety of the students and staff in our school.  There will be a number of different measures put into place and the Board will be releasing a Parent Guide and Survey that will go over all of the updated guidelines that will be put into place in each school.  We will also need every family to reply to the survey when it is released. More information will follow around this survey in the coming days.

There are a number of other measures, plans, schedules and signage that will be put in place at Palmerston P.S.  I’m sure you have lots of questions and ideas; we will be working hard in August to implement the directives from the Ministry of Education and Upper Grand, while making sure that our school continues to be a warm and welcoming place for all children.

We will share updates and information here, and Upper Grand has a new section on their website dedicated to school reopening that you can find here.  At times, we will also send out communication using our Messenger system (phone calls) and CASL (emails). If you have not already registered for school emails, please do so by clicking on the “Subscribe to Email Notifications” button at the bottom of our school website (home screen).

Please continue to enjoy your summer and we’ll continue to post updates here as we know more and plans are finalized.

We appreciate your partnership with us in supporting your children and our school.  PPS is an amazing school community and we will continue to pull together to support one and other in the coming months.

Take care,

Darren Hale                                            Heather Dyer
