The Ministry of Education has recently released documentation regarding funding for Parent Engagement (PRO Grants) for the 2019/2020 school year. Funding for Parent Engagement this year will be administered in a completely new format. The previous program involving applying to the Ministry for additional funds has been cancelled. Funds have been provided for the Board to work with their Parent Involvement Committee to engage stakeholders in developing projects to explore how schools can:
Provide a safe and welcoming school environment
- Maintain open communication with teachers
- Respect parents as valued partners within the educational system in relation to decisions about their child’s education; and
- Ensure parents are informed about the content of the Ontario Curriculum Guidelines
The UGDSB Parent Involvement Committee (PIC) will be looking to engage School Councils and other parent / guardian stakeholders to develop projects that meet the Ministry’s goals as defined above.
