1) Save the Date: Smile Cookie Week at Tim Hortons will return this spring from May 1-7!

100% of the proceeds from these special cookies in most Tim Hortons in Wellington and Guelph will be donated to the Food & Friends snack program. Food & Friends has been a proud recipient of Smile Cookie funds for over 20 years, and has received over $1,000,000 from local Tim Hortons locations!

The iconic chocolate chunk cookies topped with pink and blue icing drawing out a smile will be available at every participating Tim Hortons restaurant across the country. (Given inflation, prices have increased from $1.00 to $1.50.)

2) Our actors and backstage crew have been working hard, and it’s time for the show! Our school play will be performed twice: Tuesday, May 2nd, 2:00-3:00 pm and Wednesday, May 3rd, 12:00-1:00 pm. Admission is free and families are welcome to attend.

3) Is your child struggling with attending school? We are here to help! Throughout the month of April we will be sharing tips and strategies with parents/guardians to help encourage regular school attendance.  This week, let’s discuss some things to do if all the strategies you’ve tried so far to encourage regular attendance at school with your child haven’t worked.

  • Be consistent! Don’t give up. And know that there are supports for parents if you need them. “Put on your own oxygen mask, before others.”
  • There are resources available within schools and community supports if there are other barriers to attendance such as having enough food for lunches.
  • Here’s a great resources with existing handouts and evidence based information: https://www.attendanceworks.org/
