Dear Parents/Guardians and Staff,

This is a follow-up to the letter you will have received yesterday informing you that an individual in our school tested positive. Public Health has notified us that two more individuals in our school have tested positive for COVID-19.  This has resulted in the three classes moving to remote learning for a period of time.   At this time, Public Health has determined that these cases were not transmitted within the school, and that it originated outside of the school.

A letter from Public Health explaining what the health unit and school are doing to prevent any further spread of the virus in the school and the community, has already been shared.  Please see this link: Letter #3_ Informing Parents #1 if you would like to read a copy of this letter.

We will continue to work closely with Public Health and take their direction as they complete their investigation. Where Public Health determines there was a transmission risk to others in the school, they perform a risk assessment for any contacts. All students and staff determined to be at high risk of exposure will be directed to isolate and recommended to be tested within their isolation period.

Just to make you aware, the school board is required to post information about positive cases in a school setting on the board website. You can find that link here: https://www.ugdsb.ca/community/coronavirus/reopening-schools-plan/covid-19-advisory-reporting

The identity of the individuals is protected by privacy legislation and will not be shared. If you have questions, please visit the “For Schools” section of the WDGPH website: WDGPH Website.

This weekend, the school will receive another special cleaning and sanitization to ensure the safety of our school community.  The school remains open, and Public Health deems it safe for students to return to classes on Monday.

Please follow the link which provides additional information from Public Health about next steps for our school community.
