Dear parents/guardians and staff,

WDG Public Health has notified us that an individual in our school has tested positive for COVID-19. Public Health has completed contact tracing and no further action is required for infection prevention and control measures. The positive case has since been clear and there is no requirement for self-isolation.

If you have questions, please visit the “For Schools” section of the WDGPH website: WDGPH Website.

Our building is safe and remains open to staff and students. As always, custodial staff will ensure thorough cleaning and disinfecting within the school, as part of our enhanced cleaning protocol.

Where Public Health determines there was a transmission risk to others in the school, they will perform a risk assessment for any contacts. All students and staff determined to be at high risk of exposure will be directed to isolate and recommended to be tested within their isolation period. Please note that Public Health has different self-isolation requirements for individuals who are vaccinated vs unvaccinated/partially vaccinated.

So you are aware, the school board is required to post information about positive cases in a school setting on the board website. You can find that link here: https://www.ugdsb.ca/community/coronavirus/2021-22-school-operations/covid-19-advisory-reporting/ . The identity of the individual is protected by privacy legislation and will not be shared.
