April 9, 2021

Asymptomatic COVID-19 testing is available for all students and their family members and staff from our school on April 18, 2021.

The testing is voluntary and consent will be required. Testing is for asymptomatic individuals only (i.e. not showing/experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms. To check for COVID-19 symptoms, use the provincial screening tool at: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/). This targeted testing is not available to anyone who was directed to self-isolate due to a potential exposure to COVID-19. If you were directed to self-isolate, please book a COVID-19 test at a Public Health assessment centre.

Testing Details

The testing will take place at Orangeville District Secondary School (22 Faulkner Street, Orangeville).

Testing times:

  • Sunday April 18, 2021, from 9am-3pm

We will send further information about the testing clinics to families directly.

Testing Vendor

The asymptomatic testing will be conducted and managed by LifeLabs and will take place in a designated “hub” school each week.

For the test, LifeLabs uses a swab similar to a Q-tip that is inserted into the front part of the nostril and rotated for fifteen seconds (per nostril). LifeLabs’ trained staff will perform the test in a space designated by the school. While some students may be nervous about testing, LifeLabs stresses that the test is not painful and should not be uncomfortable for your child. The test should take no more than two minutes from start to finish. Test results will be provided within 24-48 hours. Results will be uploaded to covid19results.ehealthontario.ca

For more information about the testing, please review the following information from LifeLabs:

Asymptomatic testing is an important layer of protection that helps to track and prevent the spread of COVID-19.
