Grade 7/8 Guidance Update from Mrs. Kennedy

Great work is being done to explore pathways with all intermediate students!
From gaining a deeper understanding of personal interests and learning styles, to
examining occupation matches, each student is compiling this foundational work
in their very own digital portfolio. Grade 8 students have also had the
opportunity to engage in presentations from ODSS Math and English Teachers to get a glimpse of high
school class life.

During the month of January, Grade 8 students will be getting a visit from the high school guidance
department and information will be coming home about course selection. Important dates will be
clearly outlined on all forms!

If you have any questions, feel free to contact your child’s homeroom teacher or email me at
ckennedy@ugcloud.ca or christine.kennedy@ugdsb.on.ca.

Grade 8 Parents’/Guardians’ and Students’ Information Nights

Grade 8 students and their parents/guardians are invited to learn more about the great opportunities
Upper Grand high schools have to offer – including academics, electives, skilled trades, sports,
extracurriculars and much more. Both parents/guardians and their teenaged children can also tour
the school and ask the principal and teachers more about programs and other opportunities.
Make sure to save the date if your child plans to attend one of these schools!

EDHS: Jan. 15 (6:30 – 8:30pm) WSS: Jan. 16 (6pm to 8pm) ODSS: Jan. 17 (7pm to 9pm)
