PMPS Update for September 30th

Posted September 29, 2022

Good morning Mustang Families,

What a great week here at PMPS! Our school was represented proudly at the Dufferin County Junior and Intermediate Soccer Meets this week. Both teams played with great team spirit and had fun. Next week, our grade one to eight runners will represent us at our County Cross Running Meet. The team has shown great dedication as they have trained every morning the last couple of weeks. Our gardening club and choir has started as well. Yesterday, we gathered as a school to celebrate our top fundraisers for our Terry Fox Run. Top fundraisers dumped ice cold water over the heads of their chosen teachers and principal. It was fun to watch and we are very proud of our school for raising over $1,000 in memory of Terry and cancer research.

Please note that we will lower our flag  from sunrise until sunset on Friday, September 30th, 2022 in observance of the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. Students and staff will be participating in activities to mark this day and learn more about truth and reconciliation.

Illnesses  at PMPS

With the recent school start and the change in weather we are seeing a lot of different illnesses in our school population. To diminish the spread of illnesses, families are reminded to screen their child(ren) before school daily, using the Ontario School and Child Care Screening tool and to follow its regularly updated guidance. The link to the screener is https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/ .If your child(ren) will be absent from school due to illness or any other reason, please don’t forget to contact the school office and leave a message on the attendance line. Thank you

Signing Your Child Out

If you are picking up your child early, please note that you need to come into the office and sign your child out on our log sheet.  Thanks.

Student Medication

A reminder that students cannot carry medication with them for safety reasons. If your child requires medication while at school, please contact the front office. We will send home a consent for you to fill out and we will safely store the medication for your child. Thanks in advance.

Note from Parent Council

Thank you for your time and attendance on Monday evening. It was great to be back, to see familiar faces and a few new ones! We are looking forward to the year ahead with each of you on Council.

Please be reminded that next Monday, October 3rd, we will have a virtual meeting to discuss the upcoming Holiday Craft Fair, to be hosted on Saturday December 3rd at the school. Jessica will be leading this meeting and will have roles to assign for the Fair within our Council, so please attend if you are able. Our next general meeting will be held on Monday, November 14th.  I will send the meeting codes the night prior, which always serves as a good meeting reminder.
