Welcome Back Rickson!

As families prepare to return to school, we hope you find this information helpful. You can also access more information on the the Board Website.  Link to Board Website and Student and Family Information

Before Coming to School

Daily screening for COVID symptoms must be done each day before leaving home. Please remember if children are sick, they need to stay home from school. Link to self-screening tool    FYI – This link can also be found right on our website.

Please remember to send your child with a reusable personal water bottle. Please make sure you label all items and clothing so that we are able to return lost items.

How Will I Know What Class My Child is In?

On the first day of school, teachers and support staff will be on the yard starting at 8:35am to help direct children to their grade’s meeting area, which will be clearly identified. Once there, students will be called by their teacher into their class, and brought to their classroom.

First Day Procedures – Morning Drop Off

  • Students being dropped off should proceed directly to the side/back of the building where supervision is available.
  • Please remember the school parking lot is for staff only. Parents of students in grades 1-8 may use the ‘Kiss & Ride’ drop off location as started last year.
  • Bus Students will be met by a staff member who will guide them to their prearranged spot.

With over 620 students and 55 staff members we are asking parents not to come into this area but to rather say goodbye from the grass area on the other side of the bus lane. This is for the safety of all students. Thank you for your understanding.

What if I have medication to drop off?

The office will be open starting at 8:00 am on the first day to accept medication and to complete paperwork. Please remember all medications must be kept at the office

Late Arrivals

Please enter by the front door and check in at the office

Communication with the School:

We will be sending home our regular package of information on the first day of school.  Please complete the forms, and return them to your child’s teacher as soon as you can. Teachers will once again have a variety of home-school communication options, including communication bags or notebooks. Classroom and school newsletters and other information will be shared on your child’s Google Classroom. If you require paper copies, please inform the office.

Early Pick Up:

If you need to pick up your child early, please park and come into the school office upon arrival. Office staff will call your child down. Please do not contact your child’s cell phone to arrange pick up or accept calls or texts from them during the day – home-school communication comes through the office. As a note, we are not always able to have your child packed and waiting at the office ahead of your arrival, so we recommend that you give yourself extra time in order to make appointments.

We look forward to seeing all the students on Tuesday.
