Update Sept 23rd

Posted September 23, 2022

We had a wonderful Terry Fox run/walk through the conservation area this morning! Check out our pictures on twitter @RockwoodPS. Thanks to Ms. Noel for organizing the walk and to French Immersion students for sharing their learning about Terry Fox and their heroes. The cross country team led the run this morning!

A reminder that pizza and milk orders are due on schoolcashonline.com today, Friday Sept 23rd for orders this term.

The school board has launched a board-wide Student Census, which is open to all students in Kindergarten to Grade 12. The goal of the census is for the school board to learn more about the diversity of students in our communities and make positive change to support students. The Student Census opened on September 19 and will remain open until October 9. The census data will be collected through an online survey. This survey is voluntary and confidential, and the school board is encouraging everyone to complete the census. For elementary students, an email will be sent to parents/guardians so that parents can complete the census with or on behalf of their child. Please keep an eye on your email and don’t forget to check your spam folder.
You can learn all about the census at www.ugdsb.ca/census.

Next week, we have our school open house on Tuesday, Sept 27th from 5:30-7:00 and families are invited to visit their child’s classes to see all of the great learning happening! The book fair is also open.

Friday Sept 30th is orange shirt day. Leading up to Sept 30th, our classes have been talking about truth and reconciliation. All students are encouraged to wear orange on Friday, Sept 30th and we will continue our learning about residential schools using the variety of resources provided by the school board.
