Sept 27 Update

Posted September 27, 2022

Good morning,

It has been a few rainy days and we will be having our first fire drill practice this week.

Thank you for your donations to Terry Fox. So far we’ve raised $929 and it closes on Oct. 7th.  Thanks for supporting cancer research through your donations.

A reminder that our school Open House is this evening, Tuesday Sept 27th from 5:30-7:00 to visit classes and see student learning. We look forward to meeting parents and showcasing all the great things happening at Rockwood Centennial PS!

Spirit Wear: There will also be a display of Spirit wear tonight to ensure accurate sizing and you can pick up an order form. Please see the attached sizing charts and form on the school website. Orders will be made available on schoolcashonline.com this Friday Sept 30th. I have attached the information link also. 2022spiritwearpg2FINAL.jpg SIZE CHART PAGE 1.jpeg SIZE CHART PAGE 2.jpeg

Grade 8 students are able to order a RCPS Class of 2023 Grad hoodie on schoolcashonline.com by Oct 3rd. If you have any questions, please email the Grad Committee at [email protected]

Tomorrow is Rowan’s Law Day and we are raising awareness on concussion safety and wearing purple to show our support. Please visit for more info https://www.ontario.ca/page/rowans-law-concussion-safety#:~:text=Rowan’s%20Law%20(Concussion%20Safety)%2C,reviewed%20Ontario’s%20Concussion%20Awareness%20Resources

This Friday, we will be wearing orange to continue our learning and recognize Truth and Reconciliation Day. September 30th has been declared Orange Shirt Day annually, in recognition of the harm the residential school system did to children’s sense of self-esteem and well-being, and as an affirmation of our commitment to ensure that everyone around us matters. Students will be encouraged to wear orange and staff have been teaching students about the importance of every child being treated with respect.  https://www.orangeshirtday.org/

Please see the attached information about the student census. All parents are encouraged to have students complete the census in order for us to gather as much information and support all of our students. If you wish to opt out, there is information in the link on how to opt out.https://www.ugdsb.ca/board/ugdsb-counts-student-census-2022/

Have a wonderful week!
