Thursday, September 10th /  Friday, September 11th, 2020

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year at Salem Public School. I am very excited to see the students and to start up the new year. I would like to extend my thanks to all of our staff for working so hard to prepare our school for this school-year start up. They have put in endless hours to ensure we are prepared for our students. Thanks also to the Custodial Staff for making sure the school is sparkling as we welcome everyone back.

We would like to take this opportunity to extend a warm welcome to all the new members of our school community as well as a welcome back to our existing Salem families. To our new Kindergarten students who will begin their school careers this year we wish them lots of success and enjoyment here at Salem.

Our school website is a critical tool for communication between home and school.  The school website provides important information such as a link to the Board calendar, our parent information regarding Covid, as well as lots of general information about Salem.  As news occurs it will be posted on the school website. The website is a great place to gain information about Salem.

Another exciting way we will be communicating is through the use of the Upper Grand District School Board Messenger App. If  you have not already done so please take a moment to go to the App store and download UG Connect. Once downloaded, start, set up, and choose Salem PS as your school. (Note if you have children in other schools in UGDSB you can also add those schools.)

On Thursday/Friday you will be receiving a number of forms to review and some of them will need to be signed.

Please return the signed forms to the school with your child this week.

*Please Return to School these Items:

  • Student Information Forms (Please update and return) (Mauve)

Reminder that we ask all walkers to arrive just before 9:00 a.m.. We ask Kindergarten walkers to be dropped off and picked up at the gate to the East of the school. The parking lots will also be closed to cars from 8:30 – 9:00 and again from 3:15 – 3:45. Please park on a side street and walk to the school to meet your child at the end of the day.

I would also like to thank each and everyone of you for your understanding and grace as we navigate the changes that we are facing at school. Your support of the school is very much appreciated.

The staff are looking forward to a great year with your child(ren).  We believe strongly that it takes a team to enable students to achieve their personal best, and parents/guardians are critical members of this team.  Please do not hesitate to contact the office directly if you have any questions or concerns throughout the year.

Sincerely,

Natasha Skerritt (Principal of Salem Public School)
