Students will attend an immersive Franco-African cultural workshop hosted by master drummer Amadou Kienou, from Burkina Faso in which they will be led through a traditional dance routine before receiving an introductory lesson in the djembé, one of West Africa’s most popular instruments.

Erin Lalonde is a labour and delivery nurse in the Obstetrics Departments of the Headwaters Hospital in Orangeville. She will speak to student about her career as a nurse, and about labour and infant care.

able to perform their own choreography, be
exposed to a variety of styles and learn from
various dancers/teams in the area.
SHSM students participating are gaining an
experiential understanding of how the world
of dance competition runs, whilst honing in
on their own technique.
Students will get the opportunity to build
confidence in presenting themselves as
dancers. Students will be adjudicated and
gain feedback from professionals in the
industry which they can take with them and
apply to future auditions/performances
