School resumes tomorrow and more SIB news!

Posted January 15, 2020

Hi SIB Families!
-School resumes again for all students tomorrow Thursday, Jan 16th. Pizza orders that were supposed to be delivered today will be delivered to the school tomorrow.

-Thank you to everyone for contacting the office when your child will be late, away or is absent. Please continue making this quick call which saves a lot of time and concern for the office as a child that is unaccounted for is a serious safety issue.

-Equity and Inclusion: Let’s celebrate and/or acknowledge customs, traditions and days of significance from all around the world! If you have a suggestion or idea, please contact your child’s teacher, Mr.Guyitt or Mr Walker. If you are willing to come in and share ideas with us, we would love to hear from you.

-Junior Kindergarten registration began on January 7th, 2020 for the 2020-2021 school year. Registration runs January 7-17, 2020. For more information, please visit:

– Cell phone use: Parents please encourage your child to talk to a teacher or the office first if they are sick, hurt or in need of something during the school day. We have many parents coming to the office to pick up their child and we are unaware that the child has contacted their parents. This is a safety concern and we would like to help. Thank you in advance for having a conversation with your children about this important reminder.

-Grade 8 Graduation Photos are being taken tomorrow: Thursday, January 16th.

-School Council’s next meeting is Tuesday, January 21st at 6:45 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend!

-For parents using the Kiss’n’Ride, please make sure car seats are on the side closest to the sidewalk (right hand side) in an effort to expedite drop-off/pick up. Thank you for your help in this matter.

-STAY UP TO DATE ON LABOUR NEWS: The Upper Grand DSB has set up a website to provide updates regarding provincial labour issues and the impact on UGDSB schools and board sites. Please visit for on-going updates.

-It has gotten cold and wet out! Please ensure your child(ren) has enough warm clothes to get through the day. We will be outside for recess unless it is raining and warm hats, mitts and boots are going to keep people warm throughout the day. We encourage students to bring extra warm, dry clothes just in case.

– Immunizations are tracked by the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health department. If you have questions or require an update on the current status of your families’ immunizations please go the website for more information.
