Posted January 22, 2020

Hi SIB Families!

-An important letter regarding the Term 1 Report Card from the Director of Education for the UGDSB is going home with each student today. It will also be posted on our website by the end of the day. Please read it when you get the chance.

-Equity and Inclusion: Let’s celebrate and/or acknowledge customs, traditions and days of significance from all around the world! If you have a suggestion or idea, please contact your child’s teacher, Mr.Guyitt or Mr Walker. If you are willing to come in and share ideas with us, we would love to hear from you.

-The next PA Day will be Friday, January 31st and will be all day. The school will be closed to students for the day.

-Intramurals is up and running for Junior and Intermediate students. Ask your child(ren) if they are involved in this great program!

-STAY UP TO DATE ON LABOUR NEWS: The Upper Grand DSB has set up a website to provide updates regarding provincial labour issues and the impact on UGDSB schools and board sites. Please visit www.ugdsb.ca/labour for on-going updates.

– Immunizations are tracked by the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health department. If you have questions or require an update on the current status of your families’ immunizations please go the website https://www.wdgpublichealth.ca/healthcare-providers/vaccines-immunization for more information.

-The cold weather is here! Please be sure to send your child(ren) with enough warm clothes for 2 – 20 minute breaks outside each day. We will be following the weather closely each day to ensure safety but if the decision is made that students can be outside for recess then everyone is expected to go outside for the 20 minute recess. More information about the board’s stance on weather can be accessed here: https://www.ugdsb.ca/schools/inclement-weather-procedures/

– Cell phone use: Parents please encourage your child to talk to a teacher or the office first if they are sick, hurt or in need of something during the school day. We have many parents coming to the office to pick up their child and we are unaware that the child has contacted their parents. This is a safety concern and we would like to help. Thank you in advance for having a conversation with your children about this important reminder.

-For parents using the Kiss’n’Ride, please make sure car seats are on the side closest to the sidewalk (right hand side) in an effort to expedite drop-off/pick up. Thank you for your help in this matter.

-For our full calendar and up to date information from the school, school board and connected community organizations, visit our website:https://www.ugdsb.ca/sibps/ and make sure you are signed up for the UG CONNECTS app for all important school and school board websites in one spot

Have a great week!
