Dear SIB families,

WOW, a lot of snow has fallen over night! School is closed today for all students and staff, but teachers will have a plan. If you haven’t heard from your child’s teacher yet about what to do when school’s are closed please check their google classroom if you have a device. To read all the details about the changes to No Bus Days and School Closure Days please click the link:

We will see everyone tomorrow. Stay warm and safe and here are this week’s announcements and reminders:

#1 SIB School Council meets tonight: Tuesday Feb 16th at 6:30 pm on Google Meet. Click here for more info and the Google Meet link:

#2 Term 1 Report Cards for all students will be going home to families on February 18th.

#3 Parent Information: Monitoring and Managing COVID-19, this is an important reminder from Public Health about how we can all work together to help stop the spread. Click the link for information:

#4 Please return all borrowed Chromebooks now that in-school learning has resumed, Thanks!

#5 Feb 24th is Wear Pink Day: We are encouraging all students and staff at SIB to wear something Pink on Wednesday Feb 24th to show their support and say “NO” to bullying. Thanks!

#6 Masks, timing and social distancing on the tarmac: To help with social distancing protocols before and after school, we are asking that all students and parents/guardians please wear a mask when they enter the school grounds (tarmac area at the back of the school). Parents are asked to not enter the tarmac area as it is a very congested area at the start of school. We also encourage students to not arrive on the school grounds before 8:35am to help avoid unorganized large groupings. Parents/guardians we also need your help to please keep reminding your children about the importance of social distancing and mask wearing.

#7 KISS’N’DRIVE Reminder: Due to COVID-19 and general safety guidelines, parents will not be allowed to get out of their cars at the KISS’N’DRIVE location. Therefore, only children who can handle their own seatbelts and can open/close the car doors independently can use the KISS’N’Drive. If your child cannot do this independently, parents must park their cards on one of the many side streets around the school and walk their children to and from school.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation as this will support the safety of our students.

#8 Late Students: If your child is late to school,  please remind them they must enter through the front doors of the school so that they can be properly accounted for.

#9 Picking Up Students during the school day: If you need to pick up your child during the day please come to the front doors of the school and ring the school and your child will be escorted to you. We kindly ask that if you arrive by car, please exit your car so that we can confirm your arrival and ensure a safe transition for your child.

News regarding school is constantly being updated. SIB will continue to communicate with families step by step with information when it becomes available as we move through the school year. Please continue to check your email, twitter and our website daily for updates.

Stay a safe distance and stay positive!
