Posted February 22, 2021

Dear SIB families,

The snow keeps falling making for amazing SIB snow creations at recess! Here are this week’s announcements and reminders:

#1 Parent Information: Monitoring and Managing COVID-19, this is an important reminder from Public Health about how we can all work together to help stop the spread. Click the link for information:

#2 Feb 24th is Wear Pink Day: We are encouraging all students and staff at SIB to wear something Pink on Wednesday Feb 24th to show their support and say “NO” to bullying. Thanks!

#3 Term 1 Report Cards for all students went home to families on February 18th. If you have not returned the parent/student slip to your child’s teacher please do so as soon as possible. Thanks!

#4 Absent or Late? Please let us know with a call: Please call the office regarding student absences, pick up/drop offs and late arrivals as we cannot guarantee emails will be received in a timely manner. If your child is late to school, please remind them they must enter through the front doors of the school so that they can be properly accounted for. Thanks!

#5 Drop Off of Items for Students: If your child has forgotten their lunch or any other important item to help them get through the day please deliver it to the front office by calling when you arrive. We will be sure to get it to your child. Also, we have one time use cups that we can give to students who forget their water bottle. NOTE: SPECIAL DELIVERIES OF TREATS OR EXTRAS THROUGHOUT THE DAY COMPLICATE THE SCHEDULE WE HAVE CREATED TO ENSURE EVERYONE STAYS SAFE AND FOLLOWS THE COVID-19 PROTOCOLS, PLEASE ENJOY THESE OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL TIME.

#6 No Bus Days and School Closure Days Reminder please click the link for full details:

#7 Masks, timing and social distancing on the tarmac: To help with social distancing protocols before and after school, we are asking that all students and parents/guardians please wear a mask when they enter the school grounds (tarmac area at the back of the school). Parents are asked to not enter the tarmac area as it is a very congested area at the start of school. We also encourage students to not arrive on the school grounds before 8:35am to help avoid unorganized large groupings. Parents/guardians we also need your help to please keep reminding your children about the importance of social distancing and mask wearing.

#8 KISS’N’DRIVE Reminder: Due to COVID-19 and general safety guidelines, parents will not be allowed to get out of their cars at the KISS’N’DRIVE location. Therefore, only children who can handle their own seatbelts and can open/close the car doors independently can use the KISS’N’Drive. If your child cannot do this independently, parents must park their cards on one of the many side streets around the school and walk their children to and from school.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation as this will support the safety of our students.

#9 Picking Up Students during the school day: If you need to pick up your child during the day please come to the front doors of the school and ring the school and your child will be escorted to you. We kindly ask that if you arrive by car, please exit your car so that we can confirm your arrival and ensure a safe transition for your child.

News regarding school is constantly being updated. SIB will continue to communicate with families step by step with information when it becomes available as we move through the school year. Please continue to check your email, twitter and our website daily for updates.

Stay a safe distance and stay positive!
