This week @SIB: March 9th

Posted March 9, 2021

Dear SIB families,

Fingers crossed that our snow is on the way out with warmer weather on the horizon! Here are this week’s announcements and reminders:

#1 Parent Information: Monitoring and Managing COVID-19, this is an important update from Public Health about how we can all work together to help stop the spread.

  • A student with any single new COVID-19 symptom must isolate until they test negative for COVID-19, receive an alternate diagnosis for the symptom, or have isolated for 10 days since symptoms began.
  • Everyone in your household should stay home if anyone has COVID-19 symptoms or is waiting for test results after experiencing symptoms. Stay home until the person with symptoms gets a negative COVID-19 test result, is cleared by Public Health, or is diagnosed with another illness.

#2 Spring is on the way and so is the wet muddy weather! Please send outdoor clothing (splash pants and boots) and pack an extra set of clothes to help your child stay as dry as possible while having fun outside during recess and class time.

#3 The UGDSB is hosting the final PIC event of the year focusing on Special Education, click the link for full details.  https://www.ugdsb.ca/sibps/2021/03/05/ugdsb-hosting-final-pic-parent-engagement-event-focusing-on-special-education/

#4 March Break has been moved to the week of April 12th: Just a reminder that the traditional week long March Break school holiday has been moved to the week of April 12th this year. The school will be closed during this week.

#5 Absent or Late? Please let us know with a call: Please call the office regarding student absences, pick up/drop offs and late arrivals as we cannot guarantee emails will be received in a timely manner. If your child is late to school,  please remind them they must enter through the front doors of the school so that they can be properly accounted for. Thanks!

#6 Drop Off of Items for Students: If your child has forgotten their lunch or any other important item to help them get through the day please deliver it to the front office by calling when you arrive. We will be sure to get it to your child. Also, we have one time use cups that we can give to students who forget their water bottle. NOTE: SPECIAL DELIVERIES OF TREATS OR EXTRAS THROUGHOUT THE DAY COMPLICATE THE SCHEDULE WE HAVE CREATED TO ENSURE EVERYONE STAYS SAFE AND FOLLOWS THE COVID-19 PROTOCOLS, PLEASE ENJOY THESE OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL TIME.

#7 Picking Up Students during the school day: If you need to pick up your child during the day please come to the front doors of the school and ring the school and your child will be escorted to you. We kindly ask that if you arrive by car, please exit your car so that we can confirm your arrival and ensure a safe transition for your child.

#8 Masks, timing and social distancing on the tarmac: To help with social distancing protocols before and after school, we are asking that all students and parents/guardians please wear a mask when they enter the school grounds (tarmac area at the back of the school). Parents are asked to not enter the tarmac area as it is a very congested area at the start of school. We also encourage students to not arrive on the school grounds before 8:35am to help avoid unorganized large groupings. Parents/guardians we also need your help to please keep reminding your children about the importance of social distancing and mask wearing.

News regarding school is constantly being updated. SIB will continue to communicate with families step by step with information when it becomes available as we move through the school year. Please continue to check your email, twitter and our website https://www.ugdsb.ca/sibps/ daily for updates.

Stay a safe distance and stay positive!
