Report Cards will be Online this June + More SIB News: June 15

Posted June 15, 2021

Dear SIB families,

It is the middle of June already! Here are this week’s SIB announcements and reminders:

#1 Report Cards for Term 2 will be distributed electronically this year: Due to COVID-19, the Upper Grand District School Board is preparing to make student report cards available online for parents/guardians this spring.

During the week of June 14, parents will be sent information explaining how they can create a secure account.

Parents will be able to access their child’s report card from a secure webpage, using a board-issued account. Elementary report cards will be available for download between June 23 and July 5, 2021. Secondary report cards will be available for download between July 5 and 16, 2021. Families who cannot access reports electronically are to contact their school to arrange for a mailed copy. Please note that IEPs will be mailed to families at the end of the school year.

#2 The Last Day of School is Tuesday June 29th: Teachers will be teaching class remotely up to and including that day.

#3 Student Item Pick Up: Most of the students’ personal items have been sent home already when the school was closed. There are some items remaining that teachers will be bagging and notifying students that they have items to pick up. June 28th, 29th and 30th students/parents will have the opportunity to come to the front doors of the school and be connected with their bag. The school will be open from 8:30am to 4pm each day. If you know of an item that you believe is still at the school and wanting it to be returned please contact your child’s homeroom teacher.

#4 Chromebook Returns: If your child has borrowed a Chromebook out from the school to use during remote learning it needs to be returned by the end of June. Classes will be continuing up to and including June 29th so the school will be open on the afternoon of Tuesday June 29th and all day on Wednesday June 30th (8:30am to 4pm) for Chromebooks to be returned. Thank you in advance for your support.

#5 A note about evaluation during remote learning: In June, your child will receive their report card for Term 2. You will see your child’s achievement for Term 1, and will see their achievement and comments for Term 2. Student work that has been completed and assessed during both in-class and remote learning will be factored into the final mark.

If students have not participated to a full extent in remote learning and teachers are not able to determine a grade for the report card due to insufficient evidence, you will see the letter ‘I’ and comments for Term 2. This does not mean that your child did not complete any work. It means that there has not been enough evidence gathered to accurately report a grade. For these students, teachers will reach out to families and provide additional information so that parents are aware, prior to receiving the June report card.

During these final weeks of learning for the 2020 – 2021 school year, please continue to reach out to your child’s teacher if you wish to discuss your child’s progress.
