Principal’s Message – May 14, 2021

Posted May 14, 2021

It is so wonderful that the weather is turning and we are able to spend more time outside.  I hope that between online meetings you and your children are able to run around the backyard, go for a walk or just be outside.  It is good for the soul!

As you are aware, the government has extended the school closure period until at least June 2nd.  We know how challenging this is for many of our families and that we are all doing our best to make this work.  Remember to reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions or concerns.  We are here to help.

You would have received information from the school board that we will be offering remote learning school again for families that can not have their children attend our schools in-person.  Should you be considering this option for your family please realise that this is a full year commitment and you will not be permitted to switch between remote and in-person as this is disruptive to the rest of the students if we are reorganizing classes throughout the school year.  For more information on timelines and how to register please visit: https://www.ugdsb.ca/blog/preliminary-information-about-remote-learning-options-for-the-2021-22-school-year/.  Please note that the deadline for elementary registration is June 3rd.

Should we not return to the school in June the board is looking at a means to have you access your children’s report card online.  Instructions will be sent to the email we have on file for you (the one that you are receiving this email at.)  It is hard to believe that we are wrapping up this school year.

Upcoming Dates:

  • May 24 – Victoria Day Holiday- No online classes
  • June 4 – PD Day – No online classes – teachers will be working on report cards

Have a terrific weekend!
