Principal’s Message – November 11, 2022

Posted November 11, 2022

On this Remembrance Day I would like to thank Mr. Lopes’ class for organizing and presenting at our two assemblies to honour those Canadians who served or are serving in our country’s military.  We would also like to thank the choir, led by Mrs. McAteer and Mrs.Trumble.  The sound of children’s voices at these assemblies is always moving.

I can’t tell you how impressed I am when I look at our announcement slide deck each day and see all the fantastic things happening in our school.  We have 84 junior students and 48 student coaches signed up for Newcomeball.  We have our intermediate and junior volleyball teams getting ready for their upcoming tournaments.  We have choir.  We have Triple S.  There are students preparing for the Math Contest.  There is a grade 2-4 Science Club, 2-4 Lego Club, 3-4 3D Printing Club, 3-4 Fort Building Club, Grade 1-3 Dance Club, Art Club, and more.  Today, students in grade 4-6 interested in the Battle of the Books or Skills Canada competitions had their first meeting.  There is always a lot going on.  Students need to pay attention to the announcements to find out when things are happening.

This week, School Council posted a number of Food Days to School Cash Online.  Please login to order pizza (second round), pitas, smoothies and hot lunches.  The deadline to order is November 16th.  Don’t miss out!

Also a reminder that school spirit wear is available to order at http://spencerave.deco-apparel.com/  There are many items to choose from.

Remember our Intermediate fundraising campaign continues until November 24th.  Funds will go to offset the costs of intermediate trips and graduation.  Visit spenceravenue.recipesinajar.ca  to order your Recipe in a Jar.

Next Monday we will be having Colour House Day from grades 1-8 with some activities to celebrate World Kindness Day planned for the last block of the day.  Thank you to Triple S for organizing.  We are looking forward to having a Kindergarten Colour House Day in December.

We hope you have a fantastic weekend!
