Taylor Evans Public School

·         This year school staff asked to identify and make a commitment to an equity goal and assess related programming needs.

TEPS received a significant donation for the music program and teachers are looking at options to enhance and enrich music options for students

·         Also, the “Music Play” online program was purchased and has activities for K-8

·         Mrs. Zamora is running the instrumental music program for intermediate students

Terry Fox run (ran today) has raised $2012 to date and Parent Council is looking forward to Mr. Keesmaat shaving his head.

The virtual book fair is ongoing until the end of this week.

New staff: There are two student teachers: one in Grade 4 and one in 7/8, until the end of November

New School Board Direction for Halloween/Holidays meant encourage equity and inclusion:

·         Orange and black day/come as you are

·         Costumes with no makeup/no masks

·         Pumpkin/fall harvest celebration themes

·         Discussing appropriate choices for dressing up

·         Having a pumpkin art gallery

Actions:

Council agreed to fund pumpkins for the pumpkin art gallery.

Council agreed to fund Diwali lights projects for Grade 4 and 6.
