Good Afternoon VCPS Families!

We hope that you and your families had a good break and are ready to start the 2023 school year tomorrow morning! As we start 2023 together, we will be talking about new beginnings, goals and appreciating our own skills/talents.

Starting Tuesday, January 10th, our Kindergarten registration begins. Why so early? Registration numbers are used staff accordingly for the upcoming school year. If you, or anyone you know in the community has a child starting Kindergarten in September 2023, please have them register now!

It’s not too late to order pizza lunches! You have until Thursday, Jan.12th to place your order and pay on School CashOnline. You do not need a credit card to use it and School CashOnline will continue to be used throughout K – 12 for UGDSB students (for trips, food, fundraising, etc.) If you are having difficulty, please reach out to set up your account.

Our playground continues to be muddy and wet in areas. As a result, students will continue to need indoor shoes. Again this year, we will wait for the ground to be frozen prior to opening the snowhill. Once the ground is frozen, students will use school provided sleds on the hill only. Our creative play structures continue to be closed until spring.

We would also like to remind our families that dogs are not allowed on school property.  For families using drop off and pick up times to walk their furry family members (aka dogs), please make arrangements to meet your child(ren) off school property.

Finally, if you are walking your children to /from school, please use the sidewalk, rather than walking through the parking lot. It is extremely difficult to see pedestrians. Let’s teach our students good habits for the times we are not with them. Sidewalks are safe places to walk.

Don’t forget to check our school website regularly – the news feed and the calendar tabs are updated regularly. This month, look for pizza days, photo day and a PD Day which are all posted on our calendar.

From our staff to your family, we wish you and your loved ones all the best in 2023!
