Registration for the 2023-2024 UGDSB Remote Program

Posted January 12, 2023

The Upper Grand District School Board is looking forward to continuing to offer the Erin Public School Remote Program for the 2023-2024 school year. This program is an option for elementary students only.

While we believe that in-person learning best supports students, we recognize that some families may want their child to learn remotely, due to their unique circumstances. The decision families make about remote learning vs. in-person learning for 2023-2024 will be for the entire school year, as movement between learning modes during the school year can cause disruptions for students, families, and classrooms.

Erin Public School Remote Program

Students who sign-up for the Remote Program will be registered at Erin Public School. Students will be placed in a dedicated remote classroom with a dedicated remote learning teacher. As with previous school years, UGDSB will NOT be using a “hybrid model” for remote learning.

Synchronous Learning

  • School day begins at 8:55am and ends at 3:15pm (with two 40 minute breaks during the day)
  • 300 minute daily schedule set by teacher
  • Live instruction using Google Meets
  • Use of Google Classroom online learning environment
  • Daily attendance

French Immersion

UGDSB is unable to provide an French Immersion (FI) program for remote learners. Families considering, or currently enrolled in, the FI program would have to decide between in-person French Immersion, or remote English.

Remote Program Registration

Registration for the Erin PS Remote Program is now open. Please remember the decision for remote learning is for the entire 2023-2024 school year.

To register your child please click the Remote Program Registration Form complete all sections. Once registered you will be contacted directly at a later date to complete the registration process.

Remote Student Residency Attestation

The Ministry of Education requires that all students who are exclusively enrolled in remote learning or online learning attest that they are residing within the boundary of their school board with whom they are registered (Upper Grand District School Board). School board staff will be required to attest that they have reviewed pupil residency documents at the start of each school year to ensure the pupil and their parents/guardians are living in Ontario.

Upon registration parents/guardians will be required to provide proof of residency in-person at a UGDSB school site at the start of next school year.
