JUNE 24, 2022

Message From Principal

It is hard to believe that our 2021-2022 school year is drawing to a close.  We have made it through the year with mostly in-person learning and were able to celebrate through our Dream Big Dance performance, JK Orientations, class graduations, as well as ice cream and pizza parties!  Please know that the Victory Team wishes students and families good health, safety and well-being and we look forward to seeing all of you in the fall.

Our staff can be proud that we successfully completed a closer-to-normal year.  Students and families, we are so proud of you!  You are amazing and should be very pleased with your accomplishments.  Thank-you for all your patience, support, and words of appreciation.

Our grade 4 French Immersion students are off to new adventures at L’Ecole King George and our English grade 6 students are headed to Willow Road Public School. We send our wishes with each of them for every success as they leave Victory to continue their learning at other schools.

Have a happy, safe and relaxing summer holiday. Farewell!

Farewell

As this year draws to a close we join together in saying ‘Farewell’ to some of our teachers. We wish Ms. Broadfoot, Mme Cigljarev, Mme Melin, Mme Bond, Mme Popoviciu, Ms. Cousins, Ms. McLelland, Mme Drumm and Mme Goudino all the best.  It has been a pleasure to work with all of these wonderful educators and staff members, they will be missed by all.  The school will not be the same without them! It is with great pleasure that we welcome back Mme Kukovica, M Elrick, and  Ms. Primeau.

Report Cards

Final report cards are now available online. Thank you for taking the time to assist in supporting your child’s learning needs this year.

September Class Placements

As mentioned in our last newsletter, we will not be sending home the name of your child(ren)’s teacher before September. Please remember to check the Upper Grand District School Board Website for information about start up in September.  Should we have a regular start, on the first day of school, (Tuesday, September 6th), there will be grade signs posted along the fence. Students can line up at the appropriate grade sign to find out class placements and JK and SK students will find their line ups at sidewalk by the parking lot entrance Teachers will be circulating outside, assist in directing students to the correct location.

In keeping with privacy legislation and our commitment to keeping our children safe, the Upper Grand District School Board’s policy is that class lists will not be posted in a public place. Teachers will call out names of children in their classes prior to entering the building.

As in recent years, classroom organizations and student placements during the first week of school will be tentative until enrollment numbers are confirmed.

Terry Fox Flag

We will be flying the Terry Fox Flag during the month of September.  We want to recognize and celebrate this amazing Canadian’s Marathon of Hope.

Equity Fund Available to Help

We never want a child to miss out on a field trip or activity due to financial hardship.  If you are going through a period where the cost of field trips or other costs for special school events becomes a hardship please just let Ms. Anderson or your child’s teacher know.  School Council sets aside an Equity Fund that can be accessed to cover any of these costs.  Please don’t hesitate to request to access it if needed.

School Council

Victory School Council wishes to extend our most sincere hopes for the health and safety of all members of Victory Family. We will be here when Victory opens its doors once more and we can continue working with the school community to support learning for all Victory students. We hope you can enjoy the summer, and that when the time comes we will cross paths again on the Victory grounds. Thank you as always for your support of the Victory School Council and we look forward to welcoming you to future events. Take care everyone.

Supply Lunchroom Supervisor Needed

We send our sincere thanks to Sharyn McKee,, Anita Brown, Fatma Abubakar and Julia Young, our greeters and lunchroom supervisors.  If you are interested in filling in for a lunchroom supervisor from 10:30-11:10 and 12:50-1:30, send an email to Ms. Anderson at [email protected].

Student Transportation

For information about bus transportation, please access the Service de transport de Wellington-Dufferin Student Transportation Services (STWDSTS) website at: http://www.stwdsts.ca/home/documents/forms/TF014.pdf for your child’s transportation information before the start of school in September 2021.

School Supplies

Before you know it, the Back-to-School advertising and sales will be starting! Sometimes parents wonder what their child(ren) will need to bring to school.

All regular school supplies are provided to students by the school and it is not necessary to purchase anything. That being said, some children prefer to have their own materials. In this case, we suggest that you keep it simple with materials such as a pencil case, crayons, coloured pencils, glue stick, markers, scissors, etc.

The only items children need to bring from home are extra shoes for indoor use, a backpack, and a lunch box.

We wish all families a happy summer!

To our Graduating and Departing Students

As you embark on a new chapter of your life, always remember that learning does not stop inside the classroom. You will be a student as long as you still have something to learn, and this will mean all your life. Your teachers, family members and even your Principal continue their learning journey everyday through you. Every experience in life will teach you something. You just need to keep an open mind and open heart to see what lessons middle school has to offer.

This year has been full of change and hard work and has been a great learning experience for all of us. You have all worked hard and are congratulated for this.

We, at Victory P.S. encourage you to continue to work hard, set goals, and stay focused on those goals. Keep your eyes on your goals and don’t let anyone or anything deter you from achieving them.

While we congratulate you for your achievements, we wish that you continue to try your very best in working with perseverance, commitment and enjoyment.

Grade 6’s, you have brought such joy and happiness to our school. We are truly fortunate to have such a wonderful group of students at Victory P.S. and you will be missed!
