School Council

Dear Families of Westminster Woods,

School Council would like to thank everyone for their contributions to our events and fundraising this year! We have accomplished so much this year because of your support!

  • We purchased one new Chromebook for every Junior and Intermediate class, as well as a set of five iPads to be used by the primary students
  • We continued maintenance of our outdoor play structures and greening (made repairs, added mulch, watered trees, etc.)
  • Our community events had awesome turn outs this year!  We had our very first Guelph Storm game and skate event, our first Multicultural Night, a parent involvement Math Night and the annual Family Picnic!

A BIG thank you to all the volunteers who made these events possible!

We have accomplished a great deal this year, but we continue to work hard to achieve more of our goals.  The Grade 5’s created a presentation which they presented at a council meeting this year in the hopes of installing more basketball nets at the school.  After their ECO Stars field trips, they also indicated they would like to see a Westminster Woods Butterfly Garden on school grounds. Many of our goals are student led and driven.  Please help us make their goals a reality!

Please contact us if you, friends, family or neighbours, have a skill (eg. face painting, yoga… anything!) or own a business (landscaping, foods etc.) that could help benefit the school.  Our next major event is the Fall Open House in September.  We are planning a silent auction which requires auction items.  If you would like to donate an item (eg. sports tickets, gift cards to your business etc.), please contact school council.  Our second annual Multicultural Night is running again in November. We would like to include even more of our amazing cultures on display this year.  If your family has something to contribute for either event please contact us or if you simply want to know more, please send us an email!

School Council would like to reach more of our families! We invite parents and guardians to attend our meetings, which are the first Monday of every month. By attending these meetings, you will hear the monthly principal’s report firsthand and be in the loop about upcoming events and projects at our school.  By simply attending meetings, you will have a voice in council decisions. It is not mandatory that you be able to attend every meeting. Your level of involvement in School Council can ebb and flow as your schedule allows.  If Mondays do not work for you, but you would still like to be involved, please contact us! We love extra volunteers for our events!

Thanks for a great year!  We hope next year will unite us even more as a school community. Please email School Council directly at [email protected]

Best wishes for a great summer!
