Inter-school athletics and spectators at sporting events

Dear students, parents, guardians and caregivers,
As you may recall, information was provided to families on Sept. 8, 2021, regarding the resumption of secondary inter-school athletics in our board.
Since that time, coaches and athletes have been preparing for a return to play and schedules have been provided for those outdoor sports currently being offered. We hope to provide an update regarding indoor sports soon. Athletics and extra-curricular activities are an important part of the high school experience and we look forward to their return.
In order to prioritize safety and reduce the possible transmission of COVID-19 at events, we are limiting access to sporting events to players, coaches and those required for the event operations. Spectators are not permitted to be in attendance for indoor or outdoor school sporting events at this time. Current regulations required for access to sport and recreational activities require a number of Public Health protocols to be established and enforced for these events.
The focus of the board and our staff and coaches remains on the safe return to sport for our students.
Further information concerning the return to indoor extra-curricular activities will be provided in the coming weeks.
