Update on secondary inter-school athletics (Oct. 13, 2021)

We wanted to provide secondary students and families with an update regarding the resumption of indoor inter-school athletics.
We know that students and families are eagerly awaiting the return of indoor sports and we believe that athletics is an important part of high school life.
This week, Directors of Education are meeting with Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health officials for their updates and guidance regarding the resumption of indoor sports and what safety parameters should be in place in order for these indoor activities to proceed safely.
Board staff are also meeting with their Athletics Steering Committee, which is awaiting further details from Public Health and continues to plan for the resumption of indoor sports. Board staff and the Steering Committee are continuing to plan schedules for indoor inter-school athletics.
We hope to have finalized guidance and further information for schools, students and families next week.
