The Upper Grand District School Board and Wellington Catholic District School Board, in consultation with District 4 and District 10 officials, are excited to announce the resumption of indoor inter-school athletics.

Following the strong recommendation of Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health, the following criteria will be in place for indoor sports:

  • All participants (students/staff/coaches/volunteers) must provide proof of being fully vaccinated or have a medical exemption in order to participate in indoor inter-school sports and/or indoor high-impact, high-intensity school-based intramurals/extracurricular athletics activities; and
  • All participants must be fully vaccinated or have a medical exemption to begin tryouts/practices for indoor inter-school athletics.

In addition to the recommendations provided by Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health and consistent with previous communication surrounding spectators of outdoor inter-school sports, spectators will not be permitted indoors at the present time.

Please note that this vaccination requirement does not apply to gym classes, only to inter-school indoor athletics and indoor high-impact, high-intensity school-based intramurals/extracurricular athletics activities.

Schools (Principals/Athletic Directors/Coaches) will utilize the provincial Verify Ontario App and the downloadable QR codes to verify full vaccination. If this is not available, confirmation of vaccination can be verified via a paper copy and ID.

Practices and tryouts can begin October 25, 2021, and games will begin the week of November 15, 2021. Specific schedule information will be released through school Athletic Directors.

Thank you for your ongoing support, we are looking forward to the resumption of indoor inter-school athletics.
