Positive Case of COVID-19 (December 16th)

Posted December 16, 2021

Dear Wolverine Parents / Guardians, Students, and Staff,

WDG Public Health has notified us that an individual in our school has tested positive for COVID-19. As a result, Public Health has provided us with letters to forward by email to high-risk contacts in specific classes and busses on UGCloud. Students should check their email accounts for more information later this afternoon.  Our building is safe and remains open to staff and students. As always, custodial staff will ensure thorough cleaning and disinfecting of affected areas in the school, as part of our enhanced cleaning protocol.

We will continue to work closely with Public Health and take their direction as they complete their investigation. Today, Public Health has revised their isolation requirements.  All students and staff determined to be at high risk of exposure will be directed to isolate for 10 days from December 16th and will be recommended to be tested within their isolation period.  Isolation requirements for high-risk contacts are no longer based on whether students are vaccinated/unvaccinated. Please note that Public Health has different self-isolation requirements for individuals now due to the Omicron variant.

So you are aware, the school board is required to post information about positive cases in a school setting on the board website. You can find that link here: https://www.ugdsb.ca/community/coronavirus/2021-22-school-operations/covid-19-advisory-reporting/ . The identity of the individual is protected by privacy legislation and will not be shared.

If you have questions, please visit the “For Schools” section of the WDGPH website: WDGPH Website, and please read the attached letter below for additional information.
