GRADE 8 INFORMATION 2018 – 2019
Dear Parents/Guardians:
My name is Anna Armstrong. I am a grade 7 and 8 guidance counsellor. It is a new role to our board. I am assigned to the following public schools: Gateway Drive, Mitchell Woods, Taylor Evans, Westwood and Willow Road and I work closely with Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute, College Heights Secondary School and the ESL department at John F. Ross Collegiate Vocational Institute. I visit grade 7 and 8 classrooms and teach pathways planning and exploration. I provide support for students transitioning from grade 8 to grade 9.
This is an exciting year for grade 8 students and I want to give you an overview of the upcoming experiences that will give students the opportunity to learn more about their future pathways. I have compiled a list of upcoming events (dates may be subject to change) to keep you up to date on what is happening this school year. All students are encouraged to attend all events. Students will be heading off in all different directions and it is good practice to support all pathways. Different opportunities will provide different ideas, programming and interests to students. You never know what will spark their curiosity!
