Principal’s Message – April

Posted April 1, 2019

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I think it is safe to say that the snow is gone and Spring has arrived. We are really looking forward to opening the creative playground and watching the  students enjoy their time outdoors.

This upcoming month we will be celebrating the environment. There are  a number of different initiatives to help celebrate and educate students on energy preservation and conversation. These include a planting day, spring clean up, and a number of other environmental initiatives. Please follow the dates on our school calendar located on the website.

On April 5th, we will be participating in our annual full day professional learning day. We have a full schedule where we  will share and reflect on the work that we are currently doing in literacy and numeracy. We will also be spending some time preparing and planning for our transition activities that will help support our students moving into the 2019/20 school year.

Over the past month we have been really focussing on norms of behavior that we feel  are appropriate to create a safe and respectful environment for both adults and students. We have shared the specific norms with our intermediate families, however, I wanted to share the big ideas with all other families. We are supporting students through respectful behavior, responding to adult redirection, doing their best, and resolving conflicts peacefully. I hope you would agree that these norms help to keep our students safe and happy at school. Please reinforce these big ideas with your children.

As always, please feel free to contact me personally if you have any questions or concerns,

Mr. S. Viveiros
