Every year, many UGDSB staff, community members and volunteers go above and beyond to support our schools and communities. They work quietly in the background, using their knowledge and skills, empathy and caring to work tirelessly to improve the lives of others. Many projects involve community connections with partners that widen the scope of influence beyond the walls of a typical brick and mortar school. The most improtant factor that is a common thread running through is a desire to make a positive difference in lives.

Willow Road P.S. is proud to announce that Bonnie Sears, our Primary Junior Special Education Resource Teacher has received an Upper Grand DSB Everyday Hero Award for 2019/20! Bonnie is a leader in our school. She works tirelessly to serve the needs of our Special Needs students. She brings new and innovative teaching methods to staff and works as a mentor with the goal of achieving teaching excellence. Bonnie has a huge, empathetic heart and a welcoming smile. We are so lucky to have her working at Willow!

They say that heroes don’t always wear capes. That is very true. While gently guiding students through tasks, planning her next co-teaching or guided practice session with staff, or offering a kind word to all, Bonnie Sears rocks a mask.
