EJPS Week at a Glance (Nov 28 – Dec 2)

Chers parents,

It was so nice to run into many of you during this week of parent-teacher interviews. We are grateful for your support and partnership in your child’s education. Never hesitate to reach out should you have any questions or concerns.

This week, we had an incredible Anti-Bullying Awareness and Prevention Assembly on Monday thanks to Mme Anselmini-Lofton and her wonderful grade 4 students. They set the tone for an impressive week of learning with classroom activities building our capacity to reduce bullying behaviour in our school. Also, we all appreciate the work our highly skilled EA, Mme Scheffold, put into creating slideshows and classroom resources to help us achieve our anti-bullying goals.

In other news, three new EJPS logo designs have been selected by our community and have been forwarded to a professional brand designer. They will use those designs to build 2 or 3 prototypes of new logos that would be fitting for a variety of purposes such as spirit wear, letterhead, etc… See the three chosen designs in this attachment. Lastly, in the coming days we will be sending out some information regarding the new UGDSB Volunteer Policy.  We will be reaching out to our current and upcoming school volunteers and requesting that they fill out the new School Volunteer Application and new Volunteer Agreement as well as a criminal record check. Volunteers will need to obtain a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening. Volunteers  can apply for a Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector Screening online through the Guelph Police Service site https://www.guelphpolice.ca/en/request-for-information/vulnerable-sector-check.aspx.

Once we have all three required documents we will add this information to our central volunteer binder. Volunteers are only required to complete the forms once for the year and criminal record checks are good for multiple years. In years when volunteers do not complete a criminal record check they will be asked to sign an offense declaration form in lieu of having a new Criminal Record Check completed.  We are incredibly grateful for our many volunteers. We appreciate the extra work that this may take, however the safety of our students is our utmost priority. For now, if you are a current volunteer, carry on as usual until we contact you. Should you require further information please do not hesitate to contact the school.
