EJPS Week at a Glance (Dec 12 – 16)

Chers parents,

I wanted to take this opportunity to congratulate Grade 3\4 Teacher, Tamara Owen, on her retirement. December 22nd will be her last day at EJPS. We will miss her expertise, kindness and fun ways. Mme Owen has contributed significantly to upholding excellence at EJPS and at her past schools throughout her career in the UGDSB. We wish her well in her next chapter. I’m also happy to say that we have been lucky to be able to hire an outstanding teacher as a new member of the EJPS team. Mme Kate Shirton-Smith, who started out as an LTO in KB this year, was the successful candidate for the Grade 3\4 position. She brings over a decade of FI teaching experience from the Halton board and comes highly recommended. We look forward to Mme Shirton-Smith joining our teaching staff!

We are also all looking forward to the EJ Holiday Extravaganza 2022 that will be hosted in our gymnasium this week on December 14th. For this event, parents (relatives and friends are welcome) will not need to sign in or sign out at the office due to the expected volume. I will be monitoring the entrance and exit times at the Gym doors. Please note, as per health recommendations during this season of respiratory illnesses, that we are doing our best to mitigate folks from getting sick in a crowded space by breaking up our presentation into three parts and to have a non-student ONLY audience. Since we recognize that students benefit from seeing each other perform, students can view their friends and/or siblings in other classes perform at the dress rehearsal the day before the actual concert. With that said, we ask that parents not sign out any children out of class to join one of the concert times to view their friends or siblings perform. Not only will this avoid crowding in the Gym but it will also avoid our office coordinator, Mme McLeod, having to administer an unmanageable amount of sign outs and sign ins. To that end, we truly appreciate your cooperation with our request which aims to uphold student safety.

Any parent musicians in the house? If you play an instrument and would like to play some live music at our EJPS School Council Coffee House from 3-5 PM following the Holiday Extravaganza on Dec 14th, please send me an email at [email protected] to express your interest. Mr. Teasdale and I intend to perform a short set as well on acoustic guitar and percussion.
