EJPS Week at a Glance (May 8- 12)

Chers parents,

It was so nice to see everyone at our STEM Fair Open House and celebrate Education Week with you. The good community feeling was buzzing strong that evening as we could see smiles and looks of appreciation on everyone’s faces. The student STEM work was of high quality and showed a depth of learning throughout the grades. The Book Fair, T-Shirt swap, Beaver Tails, Scavenger Hunt, Donation drop off all added great value to the evening and shows evidence that our staff, school council, volunteers, and students can all work together to accomplish great things. Thank you to Mme Connell for her leadership and support in helping EJ host their first school wide STEM fair.

This week all of our classes also enjoyed a Zumba class facilitated by Stephanie Dean from “Shake It Off” as part of our Mental Health initiative. Every student participated with great enthusiasm. We also had our Jump Rope For Heart kick off assembly organized by Mme Roberts. The skipping team performed with high energy to get everyone pumped and inspired to raise money for such a great cause. Letters and pledge forms are coming home.  F23 Jump Rope For Heart Parent And Guardian Letter Prize School EJPS

In other news, it is hard to believe but we are already starting to plan our organization for the 2023-2024 school year. If you are planning a move to another school this summer, or know of someone moving into our school area for the 2023-2024 school year, please notify the office as soon as possible. Moreover, I wanted to comment that in the past, we have received a number of class placement requests for the coming school year. This can make class building very difficult and sometimes hinder the process significantly. We will not be taking any class placement requests for September 2023. If your child has some exceptional circumstances that require consideration when doing class placements, please email me directly at [email protected]. Please know that when placing your child in a class, we consider their ability, personality, productive and supportive learning friendships, learning style, and behaviour. Class building is a lengthy process that is given a great deal of thought by the staff. Thank you for recognizing that we do our very best for each and every student. As a courtesy, I wanted to share with you the tentative general school organization for the 2023-2024 school year. As new students come in and move, our organization could change again by mid September when the board’s yearly reorganization occurs. Teacher assignments will not be finalized until the end of August.

13 classes in total > three FDK classes; two Grade 1 classes; one split Grade 1\2 class; one Grade 2 class; one split Grade 2\3 class; two split Grade 3\4 classes; one split Grade 4\5 class; one split Grade 5\6 class; one Grade 6 class
