EJPS Week at a Glance (June 26-29)

Chers parents,

Next week is our last week of school! Where has the time gone? I look forward to writing my last message to you next week where I will highlight key information for the return to school in September and share appreciation and gratitude for the 2022-23 school year.

Our Grade 6’s had a fantastic time at camp last week. Thank you to Mme Roberts and Mme Smith and our parent chaperones for making camp possible. Last night, we had a wonderful Grade 6 Celebration recognizing their accomplishments and wishing them all the best in their transition to Grade 7 at a new school. Thank you to our Grade 6 teaching team, as well as Mme Anselmini-Lofton, and our parent committee for making a magical evening. This morning we had a similar daytime ceremony for our SKs who will be with us in Grade 1 next year. In other news, Term 2 report cards are available online as of June 22nd. If you haven’t accessed the report card yet please see the instructions sent in my emails on June 20th and June 22nd. National Indigenous People’s Day was recognized on June 21st. Another highlight to share is the fact that our EJPS Bus Patrol Team received the Guelph Patrol Team of the Year award presented at the Italian Canadian Club on Monday. Additionally, they were celebrated with a special lunch served by Officer Pettapiece at the school this past Wednesday and we were joined by Guelph Police Deputy Chief Gill and Guelph Police Sergeant MacDonald to say a few words of encouragement. Thank you to Mme Prilesnik for coordinating and leading our group of patrollers this year and in years past! Another note of thanks to our School Council Chair and the parents who served classy and tasty appetizers and beverages at our June Staff meeting. Our teachers really appreciated the gesture!

This coming week we will be having various classroom and divisional celebrations and a Year End Assembly/Spirit Day (Green & Gold Day) on Tuesday, June 27th at 9:45 AM. Parents are welcome to join us in the gym.

Medication

The school office has stored your student’s medication (epi pen, inhaler, pain med, etc.) for the 2022-2023 school year. This is a reminder that we cannot store medication over the summer. Please make arrangements to pick up your student’s medication from the school no later than Thursday, June 29th. If you require the school to store meds for the 2023-2024 school year, they can be dropped off in September with the appropriate form/Plan of Care: https://www.ugdsb.ca/board/policy/policy-518-students-with-life-threatening-medical-conditions/

Please note: if there is no change with the current Plan of Care, you may complete and return the “Annual Renewal” form. If you have any questions, please call us: 519-763-7374.

Food programs

Please note there will not be any food programs during the last week of school. Thank you to our School Council for running these programs which help to raise funds and lighten parents’ lunch making workload!

Moving in the fall? Please inform the office by email ([email protected]) or call 519-763-7374.

Lost & Found! Please come by the school anytime to see if any items in the Lost & Found belong to your children. We will be sending items off to a donation centre on June 30th.

Below are a few important dates:

  • June 27 > Year End Assembly
  • June 29 > Last day of school
  • June 30 > PA Day

Enjoy your weekend!

Olivier Cutz (Principal)
